what he just described in the complete opposite method of how shawn lane described himself increasing his speed. ill take lane's word on this one

search "shawn lane developing speed" or whatever. there's a nice video if him doing a clinic. he basically explains that he has always been playing fast but at first it was sloppy. the got his playing became clean through repetition. Govan is obviously good but he shouldnt speak on how others should approach an instrument, only how he has gotten where he is.

This is why I think Guthrie is one of the best guitar teachers ever to grace the earth. He approaches guitar teaching in an almost philosophical type of way and makes you think about yourself as a guitar player and as a person. He understands that being a musician is a VERY personal thing and that we are all different as musicians and as people.
