If you like Gospel, Blues, Soul Rock & Roll or any other form of classic American music, you have got to watch this. A huge influence on many who came after her, yet largely forgotten, Sister Rosetta Tharpe is mind-blowingly great!

this – so glad I did, what an inspiration. I am more into Bjork and Tori
Amos but I have clearly been missing a massive part of music history. As a

love this woman… so proud to say: we share the same birthday! Learning
and playing blues on my little Stella guitar has begun. Thank goodness, I
may make out the depression of poverty with this woman as my inspiration…
Can’t believe I only now found out about Rosetta.

I am one of the blessed ones who saw her as a child, when she came to my
city. She and my mother went shopping together in the segregated stores in
    my city in the 60s..

+Yolanda Mason You have a problem with black women who you think try to
look white and you obviously have issues with mixed people who have white
in them but identify as being biracial (because thats what we are…duh.
thats a no brainer). Thats says a whole lot about your self esteem depite
this front you have put up. Under the skin of most people like you is
someone who hates themselves. I feel sorry for you. I love my identity, my
histories, my skin that can be sometimes dark and sometimes light and my
awesome hair no matter what racist bs people spill at me or whatever some
self hating ratchet has to say about how i need to conform to societies
rules regaring how im supposes to feel about my identity. Calling someone
like me confused is like saying i have to deny everything that make me me
besides the black part. I wont drop everything because afew silly people
are wollowing in self pitty. Its a shame mixed people have more pride than
    most blacks.

My God if we just knew our history, we would not want to perm or bleach our
heritage away. We come from greats…………
