Where can I find online tabs for a beginner that has easy to read chords?

I just picked up acoustic guitar for the first time. I have not musical background whatsoever. I would like to learn chords as I am learning songs. The book and DVD I have is not very good and I’m not learning much. Where can I find something online which is easy to follow and can be done on my time?

Beginner Guitar Question – Switching Chords?

I have been learning chords on my own using Hal Leonard’s Method. It never said, ” You have to mute each and every time you switch chords.Eventually, you’ll have to mute and keep time – so you won’t have a lot of time to do it. You will have to maintain a 4 count, for example, mute & switch before the next 1 of the count.”

Question, is this true you have to mute every single time you switch chords when playing guitar??

BTW, I just started an online guitar course and in the Basic lessons they said this.

You don’t have too but its good to keep rhythm.

Any guitar experts out there? Need help in finger picking?

I’m a basic beginner, but I’ve learned most guitar chords online.

I was wondering if finger picking had a certain pattern you have to go by?
or can you finger pick different strings on chords?

Like for a Am chord, is there certain strings you have to pick?
If there is, what would it be?

CurleePagano147 answers:

Finger-picking can be alternated in any manner you want as long as you stay true to the notes on that particular chord.

Their is no set pattern and you can finger-pick the strings in any particular order and in any combination.

Helen asks…

How do you know the guitar chords in a song by ear?

I’m a beginner in guitar…seriously just a beginner
and i keep looking online for sites to find christian songs for tabs and stuff
so i can play at church or just for fun(:
but its so confusing…and i get frustrated
but i dont want to quit guitar…im really interested in it
so i just wanted to learn how to find out the chords by ear
im sick of looking it up…so you can yu tell me how yu figure out how to play the chords just by ear? just by hearing the song?

CurleePagano147 answers:

You will be able to better identify chords in songs as you play more…there’s nothing wrong with looking at tabs to get the chord progressions for a song. Not only will it help you learn more chords but eventually you will be able to identify them by sound (or at least come close)
